The first reviews of the new XP Pen models have hit the net and they’re well written and well-considered. But the one that has drawn the most attention is the XP Pen Star05 and it has more than a little in common with one of our favorite pens, the Sharpie.

The biggest thing about the XP pen is the fact it’s wireless and that means it connects to your notebook via Bluetooth and not a cable. In fact, it can connect via USB but the USB adapter is bundled with the pen so you don’t need to buy one separately.XP PEN STAR05 WIRELESS V2

The XP Star05 can write on most paper with a wide variety of inks, its battery lasts for up to 50 days and it has a nib that’s as good as anything you can buy, in my opinion anyway. Read on for our detailed review, it’s available from today and it’s a must for any budding artist.

Let’s talk about this product. At one point, I rated it 5 stars, then gave it 4 stars, then gave it 5 stars again. It was hard for me to give you guys four stars, but you MUST fix the software problem. Here is the only negative thing I have to say: The software does not work. It is terrible.

On the other hand, if you go to their website and download the previous models, the software will work perfectly. That’s why I downloaded the 04 version and it works flawlessly. I can’t thank Christine enough, because I wouldn’t have gotten it to work.

Despite not requiring software to work, the pen pressure cannot be adjusted properly without the software. Apart from that, it is a pretty cool device. Work on a children’s book and surrealistic artwork is going well. The wireless nature of the board allows me to turn it while I write and draw, even though I am left-handed. This is awesome.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to afford another one soon. This software issue needs to be fixed because my friend might purchase it, and she’s going to go crazy trying to find out how to use it. Apart from that, it’s awesome. This is way better than an old Wacom.

This tablet is amazing for the money, totally worth it. I had a Wacom bamboo tablet before purchasing this one and it is quite comparable. My only qualm with this tablet is sometimes during wireless mode when shading quickly it can have a bit of obvious lag. (Anonymous)

Although you can use it wirelessly or plug it in, it is more convenient to use it plugged in. It took me a while to figure out my Sai tools compatibility, but I was able to resolve it with a quick chat message to XP pen customer service. It was also easy to install the drivers of the website. Anyone without a CD reader is good to go.

Other than that, it’s simple, sleek, easy to use, and a great replacement for my bummed Wacom (which was much more expensive but lasted a long time.) Now, this one must stand the test of time! (Anonymous)
