The Acer Predator X34 is a 3440×1440 QHD ultra-wide, curved gaming monitor with G-Sync. That’s a mouthful to say but it’s one that PC gaming enthusiasts craved for a long time. The Acer Predator X34 has long been anticipated ever since NVIDIA announced its plans to introduce high refresh rate support for G-Sync and ultra-wide (21:9) monitors.

With the Acer Predator X34, Acer takes their sweet time getting the monitor ready for release, clearly wanting to make sure everything is perfect before launching the monitor into the market.

Acer Predator X34 Monitor Review

The Predator X34 gaming monitor from Acer is one of the best monitors I have had the pleasure of using. It has an extremely wide field of view, which is great for those that like to multitask or use applications like Photoshop.

It also has a high resolution of 2880 x 1620 pixels, which is pretty close to what I like to see when playing games. The screen doesn’t get bright enough for prolonged use but at the same time doesn’t get too dim and has decent viewing angles.

It weighs about 2.2 pounds and has a lot of ports including two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, an HDMI port, and a DisplayPort

Acer Predator X34: Gaming Performance

  • 144Hz refresh rate
  • 4K resolution

The Acer Predator X34 monitor is considered to be one of the best gaming monitors available with its low-frame rate and 144Hz refresh rate. This monitor shines when it comes to color gamut and is very vibrant in total color accuracy.

This is made possible by the VA panel coupled with a 4K resolution. The anti-glare coating on this panel is also very business-friendly with a 0.2 mm thin lid that eliminated flare and ghosting to deliver crystal-clear visuals without distracting textures or imagery from behind.

You get all of this with a 4ms response time and a 4x MSAA FreeSync range that makes fast-paced action look amazing every time you play games on your computer.

Acer Predator X34: Brightness, Color, and Latency

In our lab tests, Acer’s curved gaming monitor was as impressive as it was in everyday use. Despite its low brightness, the display recorded 261 nits on our brilliance test, beating our gaming-screen average of 223.5. The Predator displayed curved color results.

Despite the screen recording a Delta-E color exactness rating of 1.77 (more like 0 is better), it ranked higher than normal at 4.9. It covered 98.9 percent of the sRGB color space, a bit less than the recommended 103%.

However stunning it may look if it’s laggy, the Predator happens to be as responsive and as stunning as it can be. The dormancy of the screen was 9.7 milliseconds, which is incredibly fast compared to a gaming screen’s normal 14.42 milliseconds.

Acer Predator X34: Audio

The audio is superb on this Predator X34 monitor. The speakers have a strong sound quality and the speakers themselves are fairly large. They definitely improve the experience of using your computer or laptop so if you are in the market for a good-sounding monitor, then this is definitely one to consider.

The Acer Predator X34 monitor is designed for gamers who demand sheer presence in their games. It features a 3440 x 1440 resolution panel with a wide color gamut and a 144Hz refresh rate.

This computer monitor is designed for maximum comfort and an immersive gaming experience. Based on the Predator class of computers, this model comes with a black finish that gives a sophisticated look to the whole system.

It provides ultimate performance and quality from the processor to the graphics card so that you can play the latest and greatest titles without any hit on your wallet.

Pros Cons
Impressive design Navigating menus can be a pain
Solid built-in speakers Pricey
Strong G-Sync performance
Low latency

Final Verdict

The Acer Predator X34 is worth every penny of its $1,299 price tag if you’re willing to spend that much on a gaming screen. Its 34-inch, 3440 x 1440 display, and G-Sync capabilities enable advanced gamers to experience an ideally smooth gaming experience.

Although its base-facing LED lights probably aren’t necessary, they sure as hell look cool. In addition to the Predator, BenQ offers the XR3501, a 35-inch display, faster 144Hz refresh rate, and picture-in-picture functionality, but requires G-Sync and has a lower resolution of 2560 x 1080.

In general, if you’re after intense immersion (and some very favorable looks) and would not mind overdoing it, the Predator X34 stands out among other high-end gaming monitors on the market.
