Mpow HC6 USB Headset Review

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Easy to use
  • comfortable
  • Lightweight

Cons

  • Wired
  • The sound could be better.

I came across the MPOW HC6 USB headset a few weeks ago, which is an entry-level USB headset with a low price tag. I’ll be looking at the HC6 USB headset in this review to see how it compares to other headsets on the market.

The MPOW HC6 USB Headset is a headset that has been designed by MPOW for those looking for comfortability and affordability. Its design makes it very simple to use, easy to install, and also very comfortable around the ears.

If you work from home, this is definitely the best headset for you.

Features of the MPOW HC6 Headsets

  • 3.5mm
  • USB A

The headset can be plugged into a mobile phone, tablet, or other devices with a 3.5mm plug. The HC6 is hardwired with a 3.5mm plug.

There aren’t many USB headsets with this feature. This feature is found on the Discover D312U, but most models do not come with it.

The MPOW HC6 also has a USB A port for connecting to a computer. There is a 3.5 mm pin plug on the headset, which makes it hard-wired. The inline controller, which is connected to a USB port, accepts the 3.5mm plug.

Your 3.5mm headset becomes a USB computer headset when you plug it into the inline controller. This is not only a useful feature, but it also allows you to use the headset in more ways than models with only a USB connector.

MPOW HC6 Headsets: Microphone

  • Noise-canceling
  • Average sound

Mpow HC6 USB Headset Review

The noise-canceling microphone meets industry standards. There’s nothing surprising here. However, during my test, I noticed that the microphone’s sound level was low.

This USB headset is clearly the cheapest of the models I’ve tested. This means that callers may struggle to hear you clearly. That’s how it sounded to me on my test.

When it came to background noise reduction, the microphone did an average to a slightly below-average job. This is important because you want your callers to be able to hear you clearly rather than the background noises.

Again, I’ve tried a lot of headsets, and the MPOW HC6’s microphone is only average at best.

In keeping with the microphone theme, the microphone boom swivels so you can place it on the right or left side. That feature in a headset appeals to me because it allows the person wearing it to position the microphone on either side of their face. People do have preferences, believe it or not.

MPOW HC6 Headsets: Speakers

  • The speaker sounds great!
  • Comfortable ear cups
  • The volume level can be easily controlled

The speakers, on the other hand, sounded quite good to me. I turned up the speakers’ volume and played it into a microphone. The volume level and overall audio quality were satisfactory in my opinion. Obviously, this isn’t a Bose, but I thought it sounded good for a low-cost computer headset.

You can also rotate the headset to find a comfortable angle. Some headsets are severely limited in this regard in order to save money, and as a result, comfort is sacrificed in order to save money on production.

The MPOW HC6 ear cushions are spacious and comfortable. They’re perforated so you can hear the sound clearly. Overall, I liked the cushions.

MPOW HC6 Headsets: Comfort

  • Well padded
  • Made with faux leather.
  • Lightweight

As you might expect, the headband can be adjusted. After all, one size certainly does not fit all. The headband also includes a digital reference to help you find the correct adjustment number. Simply move the headset to your number whenever you need to use it, and the fit will be perfect.

The underside of the headband is padded as well. This improves the headset’s comfort, which becomes more important as you use it for longer periods of time. What appears to be leather is wrapped around the top of the headband. It appears like faux leather. Really, it’s a nice little detail.

MPOW HC6 Headsets: Cord

The MPOW HC6 cord is 9 feet long. Other models in this class have cables that span up to 7 feet or less. The length of this cord gives you the benefit of moving around freely.

A few buttons are visible on the inline controller. These are the functions of those buttons:

  • To mute the microphone
  • mute speakers
  • Volume up
  • Volume down

With the exception of the speaker mute, this is all pretty standard. That’s something you don’t see every day. Yes, the microphone can be muted, but not the speakers. There are undoubtedly applications for this, or they would not have included this feature in the headset.

The headset comes with a two-year warranty, which is reasonable for such a low price. A one-year warranty is standard in most cases, so this is a better deal.

Overall impression

Mpow HC6 USB Headset Review

Overall, I’d recommend this headset if you’re looking for a low-cost computer headset to use at home.

  • It comes with a good warranty and is reasonably priced.
  • It has padded ear cushions and a headband.
  • It allows you to connect the headset via 3.5 mm or USB, giving you more flexibility.
  • With 9 feet of cord, you get more than most other models.

The microphone sound quality is the only aspect of this USB headset that I would investigate further. If you have this headset on your shortlist, you should listen to it before making a purchase decision.

Examine whether it meets your requirements and eliminates a sufficient amount of background noise. I’d be skeptical, but it’s worth investigating further, especially if you’re planning on deploying headsets to a large group.
